St Andrew’s Marathon 2015

St Andrew’s Marathon 2015

The tenth annual St. Andrew’s Annual Marathon, took place last Saturday and was wonderful! The weather was kind to us when 169 current pupils and 22 past pupils) ran the mile-long course, cheered each other on and were encouraged by many more from the side-lines. The children were truly inspirational in the way that they supported each other and lived the Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Values. In Assembly, on Monday morning we managed to capture most of the runners (other than those in Reception and Nursery who held their own celebration and most of Year 6 were on their school residential journey) with their medals in a single photograph – not easy as there were so many! Many, many thanks to everyone who made the day so special…
• The children – just because they are.
• The parents, for supporting their wonderful children.
• St. John’s – for mopping us up
• The efficient marshals who kept us safe
• The PTA who provided us with delicious barbecue food and snacks – and made £167 profit
I could go on and on……
….but finally, and especially – Michele Davies, (Past parent, Governor and sports ambassador extraordinaire) who, along with husband Owen, received flowers and wine from the school, as a thank you for all their hard work and immense generosity in organising and financing such a wonderful event. Michele was also presented with a bunch of 10th anniversary balloons which were released onto their own marathon by past pupils Matthew Young, Bethan Davies, Luke Johnson and Jack Rogers. The morning really was a living example of our St. Andrew’s family at its best and made me hugely proud. Now we just need the sponsor money to be collected… which will be used to develop our Outside Play area…….. So over to you!
