Year 2- 13.11.15

Year 2 have had a busy and productive week. We began rehearsing our Christmas production and learning who we speak after. I am very impressed by how well the children have remembered their lines in such a short amount of time but please continue to learn these at home.

In Maths, we have been investigating numbers and digits. We realised that numbers are made up of digits in the same way that words are made up of letters. We used the story ‘Six Dinner Sid’ to explore how many digits Sid would have walked past if he visited 20 houses. The children worked really hard to find an answer and even spotted a pattern between the number of houses and the number of digits.

In Literacy, we have been developing our comprehension skills. Please remember to ask your children questions when you listen to them read as this will provide them with a more in-depth understanding of the story.

Our Great Fire of London day was a lot of fun and the children learned lots about what life was like in 1666. It was an immersive experience and by 9 o’clock our Hall became a busy London street! Photographs will be uploaded next week on the blog so please check back.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Muncey.
