It’s half way through the half term holidays and I still haven’t written to thank all the fabulous parents who came to the ‘Show and Share’ on Friday morning. It was wonderful to see so many parents engaging with their children during our phonics sessions. We so love everyone in the family being involved in our learning. Please do remember you can volunteer to help any time. We are suffering greatly at the moment from a lack of parent readers particularly on a Thursday morning so if you can lend a hand then please do let me know.
The latest news hot of the press is that we are able to offer the long awaited course ‘About Boys’ which will give an added insight into how boys play and learn and ways we can parent these energetic bundles of joy. There will be a crèche in operation with trained early year’s staff from Ware Children’s Centre to look after any little ones you may have. The course runs for four weeks and begins on Thursday 2nd March from 1pm to 3pm in the music room adjacent to the Reception Class. Please do let me know as soon as possible if you are interested as places may be limited and I would like our Reception and Nursery parents to have first choice.
Enjoy the rest of your break and remember you can now log in to Mathletics on your home PC or iPad if you want your child to have a little maths practice. Any of the activities are suitable.
There has been a great deal of interest in Ninja Turtles recently and some of the boys chose to develop a Ninja Shop. They panned this impeccably by writing their ideas on the flip chart then used junk modelling to create all the props for sale. I brought in the scabbard and handle (not the blade) to a real Samurai sword which excited the whole class and we all had a turn at measuring ourselves along it’s curved length. Mrs Sutcliffe showed us some Judo throws during our PE lesson and we all learnt a great deal about the importance of safety within these self defense martial arts.
I shall leave you with a few pictures of your beautiful children exploring. Testing different materials to find out what does and doesn’t dissolve in water and discovering why the Gingerbread man didn’t want to cross the river.

Taking courage and having a go at Judo which was a little frightening at first.
