End of another term in Year One

I cannot believe we have come to the end of another very busy term in Year One. I am very much looking forward to seeing as many of you as can make it at our Arts Week ‘Show and Share’  Tomorrow afternoon. We hope to be able to share lots of the lovely work we have done linked to the arts. It would also be lovely to see as many of you that can make it at our school church service tomorrow at 9:30am.

We had a fantastic day today for World Book Day the children all looked fantastic in their costumes, it was lovely to see the thought that had gone into all of these. Well done to Mae for winning the KS1 prize for her alien’s love underpants costume.

We have focused some of the art we have done this week on our visit to The Hungry Caterpillar Show, the children and I thoroughly enjoyed the show which was full of fantastic colourful puppets. The children were very well behaved on the coach and at the theatre and were a credit to you and St Andrew’s School.

Over the past half term we have concentrated on writing all about traditional tales, we have written our own stories linked to ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, come up with questions to the characters and even interviewed Goldilocks when she came to visit the class the week before last!!! Year One are even able to tell the story from memory using actions.

I would like to say a big thank you to those parents who have come in to support in the classroom and with reading over the past term, this has been a big help. If you would like to come in next term to support in class please come and see me.

Finally I hope you all have a lovely Easter and I along with the rest of the Year One team look forward to seeing you all for the summer term.
