Over this half term, Year 1 have worked very hard to create castles inspired by the medieval buildings we have learned about over the last six weeks. We practised creating curved roofs, joining boxes, creating pulleys and working as a team. Have a look at our amazing creations!
Today, we had a very exciting time learning some words of Mandarin. We practiced counting to ten, singing songs, naming animals and much more. We particularly enjoyed listening to the story of the forgetful cat!
Year One went to visit the Royal Gunpowder Mills to learn more about the life of Guy Fawkes. We practised old games, made lanterns and quills, visited a kitchen and finished off the day with a show.

Yesterday we made sea creatures out of balloons and modroc and today the children have been decorating them. We intend to make the year 1 classroom look like an underwater habitat. Very messy and fun – so far they are going swimmingly..!
