Year 3’s first week!

What an exciting first week back it has been in Year 3. As I have said to the children, it’s not just a new year, it’s a whole new key stage, new playground, new classroom and a new start. They have done tremendously well this week and have all shown a fantastic confidence and maturity that will allow them to succeed this year.

This week we began reading our class book ‘Stone Age boy’, which the children appear to be enjoying. Today we have planned some instructions for a range of Stone Age tasks which they will write neatly into their English books next week. I cannot wait to read them all! The children have also impressed me with their knowledge of place value, with many of them telling me about the important job of a ‘place holder’ in a number.

Today the children have each been given a homework book with this week’s task inside. The books should typically be returned the following Thursday, so that they can be marked and a new task stuck inside.

I look forward to meeting the parents of Year 3 at our ‘Meet the teacher’ session on Wednesday 19th September.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Chesterman
