In Year Five we had an interesting trip to the big smoke on Thursday! At one point we did believe we were going to have breakfast with the Queen. As you can see from the photo we got closer to the palace than I ever believed one could in a coach. After a 3 hour coach trip we arrived at the science Museum. W e quickly ran through the museum which can only be described as the scene from Home Alone 2 where the family are running through the airport to catch their flight. We arrived in our seats for the IMAX film in the nick of time! The children and grownups enjoyed the film which focused on the Hubble Telescope and the missions NASA have sent to fix it. The film was in 3D which was very impressive. Throughout, the children could be seen reaching for the stars.
After lunch we visited the Space section of the museum and got to see the Apollo 10 space capsule, with many of the children questioning if it was real! A great day was had by all. It was just a shame we had an extended journey.
Next week in English we will b e focusing on writing newspaper reports which will include inverted commas to mark speech.
In Maths we will be focusing on using the knowledge we have with place value and using this to solve problems.
Have a lovely weekend
