We have had a fantastic start to the new school year in Monet Class; the children have all settled fantastically and are all engaging with our new learning. We have started looking at our new topic of ‘Dragons, Knights and castles’ and have focused on the key features of a castle and the story of ‘Zog’ written by Julia Donaldson. If your child has anything to do with our current topic at home that they would like to share and display in the class this would be lovely.
On Friday we visited the ‘Life Bus’ which you may have seen parked on the playground. This was an amazing opportunity for the children to explore parts of the PSHE curriculum in a fun and creative way. The children were all excited to meet Harold the Giraffe and help him with his school day. We will be using lots of the different resources provided by the ‘Life Bus’ over the coming year.
We will be setting a creative homework for the children each half term, for this topic we would like the children to make either a dragon or a castle using whatever media of art they would like. Please could you also encourage your child to write a short sentence describing their model or how they made it.
If you ever have any questions please come and see either myself or Mrs Thomas during the school week, we look forward to working with you over the next year to support your child on their learning journey at St Andrew’s.
