It is more important than ever for children to have a good education if they are to enjoy the best possible opportunities in adult life. Children only get one chance at school and your child’s chances of a successful future may be affected by not attending school regularly.
The school has to be able to account for every absence that a child has from school and it is also assessed by Ofsted. If there are exceptional circumstances which require you to take your child out of school, please ask for a leave of absence form from the School Office well in advance.
If you request a leave of absence of 5 days or more for your child you will be invited to meet with the Headteacher, for completion of the application.
Please note that the Headteacher may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers are directed to determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted.
Although attendance at Nursery level is not compulsory, attendance information for Nursery is available to the Attendance Inclusion Officer at County and statistics are collected by the DfES. We ask Nursery parents not to take children on holiday in school time. If there are exceptional circumstances which require you to take your child out of school, please ask for a leave of absence form from the School Office well in advance. Applications will be treated in the same way as above.
