10th June 2020

Hello Reception!

Well another week has flown by and both groups have chosen their island names! We have Fiji with Mrs Felstead and Mrs Lovell and Jamaica with me! I’m wondering if you guys at home could look at some islands for yourselves and perhaps write down some interesting facts about them!

This weeks timetable has been the following;

8:30-9 Early Work; including number formation patterns, sentence practise, drawings and building.

9-9:10 GoNoodle; The children have asked to do some GoNoodle the past two days, you can access them via the GoNoodle page or via YouTube.

9:15-9:45 Phonics; On Monday we revisited the sound ‘ar’ and Tuesday we recapped ‘igh’. We played  Flash Cards on Phonics Play to recognise our sounds and practised writing some words using the sounds on whiteboards. For example for ‘ar’ the children practised; Park, Mark, Bar, Car, Card and Hard. For ‘igh’ we practised; light, high, sigh, night and tight.

9:45-10:30 – Busy Time Inside

10:30-11:30 – Outside Play

11:30-12:00 – Story, Numberblocks and Doubles Song

1:15-1:45 – Maths – This week we have been looking at doubling. We used Ladybirds to help us. We had to make sure both our sides matched by drawing the same number of dots on both sides and we wrote some number sentences to show our answers. For example; 3+3=6.

1:45-2:30 – Busy Time

2:30-2:45 – Pack Away, Get Home Bits Together and Watch some Numberjacks.

We have also managed to make some Jamaican Flags using some scrunching paper and glue (maybe you could do this too). I have attached the doubles song to this blog as the children have not stopped wanting to play it since hearing it for the first time.

This week if you could focus on the same aspects as the children in school; continuing to practise letter and number formation, doubling using ladybirds, phonics games and maybe focusing on those two sounds this week and perhaps researching an island of your choice.

Have an amazing week, remember any questions please do not hesitate to email our class address!
