Another positive start to the week! We have been doing lots of work around shape and phonics the past couple of days and made some interesting bits. Phonics this week we have looked at the sounds ‘oi’ and ‘ear’ and practising our tricky words and reading them. I would suggest playing Tricky Word trucks on phonics play with the children so they can practise writing and reading those selected few words from Phase 3.
For Maths we are now recapping our familiar 2D shapes and learning our 3D shapes. I have attached two links to some popular songs to aid that. My group have made party hats from paper and decorated them for them to create cones. What 3D shapes can you make at home? For 2D shapes, we have been looking at shapes in depth and learning about pentagons, hexagons, heptagons etc! All is covered in the Shape Song 2 that I have linked.
Over the next couple of days, Mr Price and I will be sending out information in regards to zoom meetings we will be conducting for the children at home and attending school. The purpose of these meetings is for children from different island groups and still at home to get to see us and their friends. For this meeting, we would like to give the children the opportunity to share something that they have done at home. This will give a focus to our meetings and time for you prepare your child. Both Mr Price and I will be sharing something we have done at home, for example; new skills, something we have made or something we are proud of that we have achieved.
We both look forward to seeing your smiling faces soon!
