Good morning Reception!
Wow what a wet and dark morning we have today! I was just starting to get used to the sunshine. I hope you have all been keeping well and staying safe.
This week I would like you to start looking at identifying money. I have attached two Youtube links, one being a song for the children to watch and the other being a story of a little boy called Hassan going to the shops to buy some new stationary! What I would love for the children to do is create their own shop at home and sell/buy their toys or other objects around the house. Could they potentially label how much each item is worth? The main focus would be looking at 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p. Once they have recognised each coin and feel confident, I would then suggest explaining what goes into each coin. For example; a 5p coin is 5 1p coins.
The song and the story does also explain this to them but as an initial start recognising them would be great!
Don’t forget, you can send me all your shop creations to our class email; firstname.lastname@example.org
Have a lovely week!
