Week 2 Update

Dear Year 4,

It has been great to see so many of you engaging with the work I have set for home. I know that many of you are coming to the end of the work in your learning packs now and some have also completed many of the activities online on Purple Mash and Mathletics. I will leave all of these activities open for those of you who have not completed them yet.  I will also be adding new activities to Purple Mash, Mathletics and the school website today.

At some point this week, I would like you to have a go at:

Reading – I have set some more comprehension activities. They are attached as a download on this post. You do not have to print them – you might just want to record your answers in your book. There is an easy, medium and hard version for each one so choose the one you think is best for you.

Grammar – I have set some more grammar activities on Purple Mash.

Writing – New George’s Marvellous Medicine video coming soon!

Spellings – Complete the next week of spellings in your read write inc book.

History – Please design a title page for our new topic of the Ancient Greeks. You have done similar activities for the Stone Age and Egyptians in the past.

PE – The Herts and Ware school sports partnership will be updating this page regularly with ideas: https://sites.google.com/view/hwsspc19/home

Please keep taking part in the Joe Wicks morning PE sessions – I have been taking part at home!

Maths – I have set some activities on Mathletics. ALSO – I have attached some  downloads to this post. They are on the short division method. These also have an easy, medium and hard version so choose the one which suits you. This video is very useful at helping you to understand the method:

Life skills – Finally, use this invaluable time to learn some new life skills at home. Perhaps you could do some cooking? Or learn how to sew? You could even learn how to use the washing machine?! I would love to see some pictures or hear about what you have been doing at home! We could even put some here on the blog for others to see.

If you have any questions or are stuck with anything at all, please ask your parents to email me, or contact me via Purple Mash.

I’m sure I will see you all very soon.

Best wishes,

Mr Chesterman
