Hello Year 5!
Although the Easter holidays were a bit different this year, I hope that you’ve had a fun couple of weeks and have managed to enjoy the sunshine and spending time with your family.
This week, I am going to set daily tasks for Maths and English and a Science project for the week. Do also keep active with Joe Wicks or other activities.
Maths – We are going to start looking at decimal numbers. You should hopefully have a pack of decimal worksheets in your home learning pack. Today will be the first sheet – Decimals up to 2 d.p
If you click on the link below, you will find a video that talks you through the questions (as well as the worksheet and answers).
Today we will be doing Week 1 Day 1 Decimals up to 2 d.p (NB this is the earlier Week One, not Summer Term – Week One)
English – The lesson below is all about similes and metaphors – have fun completing the activities! Try activities 1, 2 and the extension.
I have set a 2do on Purple Mash where you can share some of your similes and metaphor work by recording either your sentences for Activity 1 or your poem from the extension activity.
This week we are going to be looking at properties of materials, and in particular, reversible and irreversible changes. Have a look at the link below to find out more:
Lots of these changes happen when you cook food. Why don’t you help out with the cooking today and see what changes occur? Which are reversible and which are irreversible? How do you know? Record your findings! (And enjoy eating what you’ve made!)
Do make sure that you log into Purple Mash and connect with the class – comment on my blogs, add your own post to share what you’ve been up to, or share your work with the class.
If you managed to complete the Easter Project, then do upload a picture or attach it to a post on Purple Mash or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org
