I hope you’re all doing well. Apologies to those of you who uploaded the Maya information sheet yesterday. I don’t seem to be able to open them at the moment. I hope you all enjoyed the learning – even if you can’t share it with me!
Ideas for the day:
Maths –Summer Term Week 2 (w/c 20 April) Lesson 4 Adding decimals – crossing the whole (or carry on from where you’ve got to in the decimals work so far). You have to scroll right down to the bottom of the page to find the lesson – we are two weeks behind the resources on the website. We are on w/c 20 April.
Don’t forget to use the video to help you and the answers to check your work.
English – Today’s lesson you will be revisiting relative clauses and looking at a poem. For activity 3, you have to look at an illustration and describe the picture using relative clauses. I have added a blog post with the picture. It would be great if everyone could add a comment with their best descriptive sentence (or two).
History – continue with you History project. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bit of a problem saving the work on the 2do. Make sure you copy any writing you do into Word and then if it doesn’t save, you have a document that you could post, or you could not even try using the template and write your information by hand or on Word or PowerPoint. Sorry about that. Hopefully it’s a one off and things will work in the future!
History topic for the whole week – The Maya
Have a look at this video – it gives you a great introduction to the Maya.
I have created a 2do on PurpleMash that I would like you to complete this week. It has a slideshow which has lots of information about the Maya that you can read and then a template for an information text that I would like you to create about the Maya by the end of the week. Make sure you answer to these questions in your writing :
- When and where was the Maya civilisation?
- What was the Maya civilisation like?
As well as completing the information sheet, it would be great if you could choose one or two aspects of the Maya civilisation that you are interested in, and find out more! This is a chance to be as creative as you like in order to show what you find out. For example, you could find out more about Maya pyramids, and show your learning by building a Lego Maya pyramid, or find out about the types of food they ate and make a Maya style meal. It really is up to you! Don’t forget to share your learning with me by posting on the Purple Mash blog, or sending me and email. firstname.lastname@example.org I really do love seeing what you’ve been up to!

(There is another PowerPoint that might help, I can’t seem to add it on here, but will add it to this blog on PurpleMash)
