Arts Week in Reception

My goodness, what a busy week it has been. It all kicked off with our fabulous trip to see The Hungry Caterpillar at Hertford Theatre last Friday. This brilliantly colourful and mesmerising production was just one of several stories told. We plan to do follow up work on this after the holidays, as this week has just been so jam packed with other exciting experiences.

Monday we had the lovely Sara Campbell of The Academy of Speech and Drama entertain and involve us in the telling of Jack and The Bean Stalk. In response we attempted some outdoor art where we stitched and sewed a bean stalk in the outdoor area.

On Tuesday we were blessed with many parents and grandparents helping us to illustrate the marvelous book Aliens love Stinky Socks which the children had created as a response to the much loved Aliens Love Underpants story. The printing required intensive concentration and we all learned new skills. Our self-published books have now been given out so we hope you enjoy these at home.

On Wednesday we experienced the exhaustingly entertaining and funny Booster Cushion Theatre Company’s one man rendition of the Three Bears.

Many thanks to you all for your support throughout this term. It was so lovely to see so many of you here this afternoon for Show and Share and wonderful for the children to be able to share their Alien story and Chick Diaries with you.

Tomorrow we say a sad farewell to our seven chicks successfully reared in the classroom. Many thanks to Elliott’s grandparents for providing a home on their farm. It will be great to know how they are getting on.

Please remember to do the homework and return it on the first day back after the holidays. Keep practicing your +1 and -1 with numerals to 20 and maybe visit the local library for some new and interesting books.

Have a wonderful holiday and I hope the Easter Bunny finds you somewhere along the way.
