Nursery

St. Andrew’s Nursery class will provide your child with an excellent start to their education – firm foundations upon which the rest of their learning in school will be built. Our most recent SIAMS inspection report noted that;

“Everyone is enabled to develop within the life-changing, transformational, and loving culture that permeates the school. Dedicated leaders and staff watch over pupils and one another with love. A culture of nurture and nourishment welcomes and embraces all. The entire school community is united by a ‘love to learn without limits’, which ensures pupils ‘shine’ academically and socially.’’ (SIAMS January 2023).

The Foundation Stage staff work as a team, focussing on the all-round development of your child with particular emphasis on their personal and social development.

As part of the Nursery class, your child will take part in all of our whole school activities, such as our church services and Collective Worship in the school hall. The class regularly come to the main school for PE and use the school grounds for Forest School activities.

Our Nursery is attractive and well-resourced. We bring our children’s learning experiences to life through links with our local environment, by bringing real experiences into the unit or taking them out to explore the world around them.

We invite and welcome your child as an individual who will be nurtured and allowed to grow at his/her own pace in a secure, happy and stimulating environment.

HCC is required by law to deliver 15 hours a week of free Early Years provision for all 3 and 4 year olds. St Andrew’s offers full time provision of 3 hours per session, 5 days a week.  Places will be allocated to 30 children for the mornings only Nursery, from 8.45 – 11.45am. Children are expected to attend five mornings to ensure continuity in their learning and access to the whole curriculum.

We work closely alongside Bobtails, a ‘Good’ (Ofsted July 2021) privately run pre-school which operates in the adjoining building to our Nursery. The two settings together provide the opportunity to extend your child’s provision to include a lunch club, or indeed a day’s care Monday – Friday if you should wish to do so.

The Government is offering a childcare entitlement to some working parents of 3 and 4 year old children. St Andrew’s Primary School, in partnership with Bobtails Playgroup, have been able to offer parents 30 hours free childcare provision on the same school site.  This is an extra 15 hours per week,  to those parents who are eligible, in addition to the children’s existing 15 hours free early education (Nursery) funding.  Parents who are ineligible for the additional 15 hours funding will be able to pay for the afternoon sessions, if required.

The sessions are as follows:

  • In St Andrew’s Primary (Nursery)   –  Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (6 hours)
  • In Bobtails Playgroup – Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons   (9 hours)

Why don’t you come and see our Nursery for yourself and find out more?  We would be happy to show you around.
